Competition on the Web increases

Netcraft, an Internet
services company providing network security services
and market research, publishes monthly Web Server
Surveys. These surveys are of Web Server software
usage on Internet connected computers. They collect
and collate as many hostnames providing an http service
as we can find, and systematically poll each one
with an HTTP request for the server name.
The first Web Server Survey ran in August 1995 and
found 18,957 sites. In the December 2003 survey,
they found 45,980,112 sites. The following graph
depicts the growth of Web sites from 1998 to 2003.
The number of Web sites continues to increase, growing
by 20% in the past year alone. Nearly 7 million sites
added this year equal the total number found on the
Web in 1999.

Featured Project: Independencevisitorcenter.com

Last month the redesigned site
for the Independence Visitor
Center, IndependenceVisitorCenter.com,
was launched. In 2003, the Independence
Visitor Center Corporation (IVCC)
sought an agency to redesign
and develop the Web presence.
IVCC chose to work with Online Access because of
our ability to provide them with
the design and functionality
they desired while staying within
their budget.

Online Access
created a site to capture the look
and feel of the Independence Visitor
Center while highlighting their
services. The site features a Flash
slide show on the home page as
well as a Virtual Tour page. The
new content includes a section
just for kids with fun things for
families to do in Philadelphia-even
a treasure hunt. IVCC is also working
with Online Access to improve
their placement on the Search Engines
and market the site on the Internet.
